Started the morning inside a mountain cloud of heavy Scottish drizzle. As we scaled the early hills we were nearly blown sideways by gusting winds. We pushed on to Reay and shared a mug of warming mug of hot chocolate as we dripped onto the carpet in a tiny Spar shop. But nothing daunted us today as the weather started to improve we could see the final stretch of coastline on our way to John O'Groats.
We rolled together down the final stretch towards an amazing welcome from the massed family choir / orchestra performing Mervion and Mick's reworking of The Pushbike Song. What a great end to a brilliant experience.
So we've done! We're retiring now to spend more time with our families. If you've waiting for this moment before contributing to our causes then now's the time !
And thanks so much to everyone who's looked in and given us so much support.

Well done people, great achievement
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week’s holiday/recuperation
And don’t through your bikes in the sea, in a couple of days you’ll start to think about riding them again

Hommage to the bikes for getting all three of you safely to JOG! Lovely photo! Give a hug to Scotland for me!
ReplyDeleteHugs!

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fantastic! Congratulations to you all. You deserve to feel very very proud.I am in awe! Have a good rest and look forward to seeing you Barbara when you get back. Judith
ReplyDeleteThanks all of you! Spent a week in the Scottish outback after the finish and not had a chance to review your comments. We all had a great holiday despite the rain (again) and popped up to the Orkneys for a visit. Noticed that there was 2200 miles to the North pole on a signpost but thought we would save that till next time (about 44 days should to it and a pedallo!)
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for all your support and we should be back home by the time you all read this!
